8 Week Series with Taliesin

Capoeira: This workshop is intended as the first in a series, building on the fundamental movements of the art towards a thorough understanding of the unique aesthetics and priorities of Capoeira. Workshop participants can expect a welcoming but challenging practice, a noticeable improvement to their inverted movements, and an introduction to the history and social context of the art. All ages and experience levels are welcome, although participants are encouraged to bring water, comfortable clothing, and a willingness to work outside their comfort zone!

Breakdance:¬†Growing up as a mover in Cleveland, Taliesin performed and occasionally competed as a b-boy. Movement vocabulary will be based on the 90’s-2000’s style breaking focusing on uprock, flavor, and power moves. Starting with various uprock/brooklyn rock exercises, the workshop will continue on to 6-steps and basic floor techniques and freezes. Depending on interest and experience level, we’ll also work on spins, headslides, hollowbacks, 1990’s/2000’s, and hand hops.
