A Dance Workshop with Jack Kavanagh
Saturday, January 30th 1:00 to 3:00
In this workshop we will spend 2 hours dancing with light as our main choreographic inspiration. We will take inspiration from different artists who use light as their main medium. Participants will be asked to take part in light driven creative projects and asked to think critically about their use of light within the works they build. Beginner and Advanced friendly!!!!
Cost: $25; $17 for students
Jack Kavanagh is a student just down the hall at NECCA. He is a graduate of Concordia Uni. In Montreal QC. At Concordia he majored in Intermedia / Cyber Arts, with a focus in video and performance art. He also did a lot of work in the contemporary dance program. Jack studied many contemporary techniques such as the ,Laban Dance Technique, Axis Syllabus, The Alexander Technique, Contemporary Ballet and Contact Improv for the use of building a creation. He also worked in modern dance, mostly Merce Cunningham and and lester Horton, and in Hip Hop and West African dance. Jack studied technical theater for a year in Johnson Vermont and has experience with lighting and sound for the theater. Jack has directed 3 full length productions and has shown smaller works in many galleries and performance spaces in Vermont, New York, Montreal and Connecticut. On all these projects, Jack had the privilege of working with extremely talented creators.
