The Golden Era of Egyptian Bellydance
The 1940’s -1970’s has been heralded the “Golden Era of Bellydance” in Egypt with such legendary stars as Tahiya Carioca, Samia Gamal, Nagwa Faud and Suheir Zaki enchanting the hearts of millions. This workshop pays homage to that incredible time in dance history with combinations, technique, and choreography inspired by the Golden Era, featuring music from the greatest musicians of that time, including Farid Al Atrash, Mohamed Abdel Wahab, and Oum Kalthoum. Jacqui Lallita has taken 4 journeys to Egypt to study, teach and perform with Cairo’s living legends of the dance and she brings this distilled essence of classical Egyptian style to dancers of all levels in this inspiring workshop.
You’re invited to the divine meeting of two of the world’s greatest treasures: Chocolate and Bellydance! They may at first seem an unlikely pair, but indeed the pure form of chocolate known as cacao is a powerful healing superfood that helps to open the heart, while boosting seratonin and endorphins that inspire happiness. This makes for one very heart centered, deeply inspiring dance workshop with a delicious start and finish. The Ancient Mayans used cacao for ceremonial purposes referring to it as “Food of the Gods” and it’s no surprise chocolate is finding its way back into spiritual practice and deepening our appreciation for the sweetness of being. Get ready for the most scrumptiously delicious and enlivened day of dancing!
